The Wild Pineapple Kitchen expertly prepares traditional Jamaican Cuisine. Many ingredients are sourced from our on site Jamaican Vegetable Garden and also from our neighbors in the community. Guests are welcome to our exhibition style kitchen to watch the magic happen.

Jamaican Food

Traditional Jamaican fare is varied and universally bursting with flavor. The national dish is Ackee and Saltfish, often served with steamed Calaloo (similar to spinach or collard greens), and is delicious main course. Other local favorites such as Curried Goat, Oxtail Stew, Fish Tea (stew) are all wonderful example of traditional Jamaican food.
Gluten free flatbread?
Bammy is a tradition Jamaican flatbread that is gluten-free and was used to make unleavened baked goods long before imported wheat and flour where available.

Advance notice of special or restricted diets is appreciated. The produce served at Camp Cabarita is gathered from the land and rivers surrounding the property, locally sourced from nearby farmers, and is prepared by our staff. Authentic Jamaica fares such as Ackee and Salt Fish, Jerk Chicken, Steamed Lobster, Escoveitch, Peanut Soup, Coconut Rundown, Curried Goat, Plantains, and Calaloo are typical menu items. Camp Cabarita’s farm features plantains, Bananas, Guava, Jamaican Apple, Noni, Ackee, Mango, Papaya, Soursap, Sweetsop, and Coconut.
Jamaican Beverages
All sorts of beverages are available including coconut water from the property natures’ perfect hydrating compliment in tropical weather. Jamaica is tropical fruit lover’s paradise. A classic combination of honey banana, pineapple and dried coconut is known locally as a heart, stomach, and blood tonic. Also to satisfy your taste for the exotic, Tamarind Balls, a traditional Jamaican candy, make a wonderful dessert or souvenir.

Jamaican is a bountiful, biological diverse environments that produces a cornucopia of fruit, vegetables, nuts and spices. Jamaican Cuisine is a fascinating optic to examine indigenous and foreign influences. The availability of fresh, seasonal ingredients are a chef’s dream and foodie’s delight.
Fruits: Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Avocados, Mangoes, Papayas, Coconuts, Bananas, Plantains, Figs, Ackee, Pineapples, Jamaican apples, Soursops, Sweetsops, Kneisberries, Pimentos, Nonis, Breadfruit, Cocoa fruit, and Lychee
